Donald Lee - 1931-2012

ASHLAND — Donald “Flea Dog” Lee, 81, of Ashland, formerly of Catlettsburg, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Lee was born May 31, 1931, in Catlettsburg, a son of the late George and Virginia Ratcliff Lee. Don was a 1949 graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School. He served his country honorably during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force in the 815th Air Police Squadron. He retired from Armco Steel in the metallurgical department, and was a member of American Legion Post 0200. He was a very family-oriented man, a great lover of music, enjoyed hunting and traveling and was of the Baptist faith. He also played basketball while stationed at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kan. Don was very proud to have served in the Air Force and always looked back fondly on the four years he served.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Betty Bailey and Georgene Jaynes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Glenda Jo Hall Lee; a son, Shawn (Kim) Lee of Ashland; daughters Kim (Andy) Finley of Huntington, W.Va., and Christi Lee of Ashland; grandchildren Greg Finley of Huntington, Whitney Finley of Lexington and Mary Jo Lee of Ashland; a brother, Jimmy (Phyllis) Lee of Huntington; and sisters Patsy Dye of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Bonnie Lee of Catlettsburg and Pam Lee of Ohio.

A graveside service for Mr. Lee will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County, with military honors by Kenova American Legion Post 93. A procession to the cemetery will leave Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg at noon.

Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
