Frankie Baldridge 1927-2012

GREENUP — Frankie Baldridge was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Dony, near present-day McDowell, to Virgie Howell Osborne and William McKinley Osborne. Her father was a coal miner and her mother was homemaker and mother to six children raised in the aftermath of the Great Depression. They had a hard and frugal life, but never lacked for love.

Frankie was preceded in death by her dear husband, Denver Baldridge, who died in 1995.  They lived for many  years in Allen, and then made their home in Flatwoods. Their dedication to family and their deep and abiding love were an inspiration to not only their daughters and sons-in-law, but to their other family and friends. They held hands until the end.

They are survived by two daughters, Margarette Ann Mills (Walter) of Ashland and Kathy Jo Cunningham (Jim) of Boyd County.

She is also survived by one brother, Alvin Osborne (Bonnie) of Floyd County. Four siblings preceded her in death, Elzia Osborne, William Lee Osborne, John D. Osborne, and her sweet sister, Velva Osborne.

She has two grandchildren, Mamie Elizabeth Robinson (Tom) and Michael Adam Mills (Becky), both who live in Boyd County, and were much adored by Grandma Baldridge. Her granddaughter, Beth, was the light of her life as a baby and a joy to watch growing up. She was always there for Grandma and was one of her constant caregivers in the hospital until the end. Her other grandchild, Adam, was the little boy she never had.  He never ceased to amaze and amuse her. The two of them together were dubbed the “Dangermites” by their amused grandparents.

She had five great-grandchildren, Kathryne Marie Robinson, Emily Elizabeth Robinson, Colton Adam Keith Mills, Addyson Claire Mills, and Brandon Kitchen.

The family would like to express thanks and deep appreciation to all of the dedicated and tenderly loving CNAs, nursing staff, and activities coordinators and staff at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center, who lovingly referred to her as Grandma.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Condolences may be left for the family at carmanfuneral.com.
