Emmor Evans 1927-2012

ASHLAND — Emmor Evans, 85, of Ashland, died peacefully Wednesday evening at Oakmont Manor following an extended illness.

Emmor was born June 12, 1927, in Boyd County, a son of the late Gusta Lee and Essie Elizabeth Fairchild Evans. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his first wife, Pauline Lewis Evans, and his second wife, Janet Lewis Evans. Emmor was also preceded by a son, Emmor Evans, Jr., and two sisters, Nellie Kathleen Bright and Elizabeth Ann Adkins.

Survivors include a son, Ronald “Possum” Evans and wife, Mary, of Cannonsburg; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Evans, of Ashland; a brother, Carl Lee Evans, of Huntington; two sisters, Naomi Moore and husband, Charles, of Hilliard, Ohio, and Helen Jo Allen, of Ashland; three stepdaughters, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors by the Ironton VFW post 8850 will be at noon Monday at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are under the direction of Preston Family Funeral Home.
