William M. Lawson 1930-2012

ASHLAND — William M. Lawson, 82, of Ashland, passed away Dec. 5, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 17, 1930, to the late James Edward and Ada Hester Hilton Lawson. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth Lorraine Webb Lawson; brothers James H. Lawson andCharles Lawson; sisters Lora Mae Leadingham, Maxine Barrett, Zena Church, Louise Ward and Treva Lawson; and grandchildren Melissa Kennedy and Wesley Lawson.  

He was a member of First Church of God and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from the U.S. Post Office and was a member of Laborers Local 1445. He formerly worked for the Ross Brothers Construction Co.

He is survived by his sons, William Ronald Lawson and Donald Martin Lawson of Ashland; a daughter, Constance Darlene Reffitt of Ashland; a sister, Ruth Evelyn Daniel of Ashland; grandchildren Lisa Ann McComis of Huntington, Donald Martin Lawson II of Ashland, Charles Lee Martin Lawson of Ashland, Chandler Lorean Lawson of Ashland, Tiffany Dawn Arnett of Ironton and Dustin Lee Hutchinson of Ashland; and great-grandchildren Darran McComis, Melody McComis, Mary Ann McComis, Alexis Dae Arnett and Nicklaus James Stamper.  

The funeral  will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel by Chaplain Jimm Smedley. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.  

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
