Nancy Carol Alley 1941-2012

LOUISA — Nancy Carol Alley, 70, of Louisa, passed away Aug. 20, 2012, at her home.

Nancy was born Nov. 16, 1941, in Boyd County, and was a daughter of the late George and Goldie Picklesimer Sloas.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Randal Scott Alley; a sister, Mary Catherine Sloas; and five brothers, Baby Sloas, Alfred Elmo Sloas, James Sloas, George Sloas Jr. and William “Bill” Sloas.

She was employed with Northeast Area Development Head Start and Giovanni’s for many years.

She is survived by her husband and best friend of 50 years, Paul Randal Alley; two sons, Larrel Rodney Alley and wife Traci and Steven Dwayne Alley and wife Delena; seven grandchildren, Annie, Ariel, Hanna, Halee, Mykal, Alyssa and Joseph; a brother, Charles Sloas; and three sisters, Delores Ashley, Frances Anderson and Linda Bilyeu.

Nancy loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a member of Durbin Church of the Nazarene. She had a heart for giving and helping others. She had dedicated herself to direct the “Our Brothers Keeper” Food Pantry for more than 12 years. She was a member of the Lawrence County Homemakers Fallsburg Club and was a Kentucky colonel.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who took great pride in caring for her family. Her happiest memories included spending time with her grandchildren. She truly loved all her family and many friends, inspiring everyone to enjoy life to its fullest.

Nancy’s life could be summed up by the Apostle Paul’s words found in II Timothy 4:7-8: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me that day, and not me only, but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Durbin Church of the Nazarene by Pastors Everett Stevens and Darrell Brewer. Interment will be in Yatesville Memorial Gardens in Louisa.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Aug. 22, 2012, at Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa.
