MOREHEAD —
Mrs. Bertha Ross Hough, 90, of Augusta, formerly of Morehead, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, in Elliott County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sandy Hook.
She was born May 9, 1922, in Brooksville, to the late Robert A. and Louise Blackerby Poage. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Hough III, who died Feb. 26, 1991; and two sisters-in-law, Juanita Poage and Margaret Poage.
She was the owner of the Folk Art Shop in Augusta.
Bertha was a member of St. James Parish in Brooksville, the Augusta Art Guild, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Bracken County Historical Society, for which she was one of the founding members. She was a former Bracken County tourism director, served as admiral of the Augusta Sternwheel Regatta and was a Kentucky colonel.
Bertha enjoyed painting, pottery, crafts and her flowers. Most of all she treasured time spent with family and her many friends. She will be sorely missed by all.
Bertha leaves behind two sons, William H. Hough IV (Patty) of Morehead and Wayne Hough (Lorraine) of Nashville, Tenn.; three daughters, Dr. Patricia Dailey of Moss Beach, Calif., Carol Cassidy (Roy) of Xenia, Ohio, and Roberta Bobbie Caudill (Proc) of Morehead; and three brothers, Joe Poage of Nicholasville, Bobby Poage of Lexington and Billy Poage (Carolyn) of Morehead.
Survivors also include seven grandchildren, Chris Dailey, Boone Caudill, Aron Caudill (Melissa), Benjamin Caudill, Kathleen Cassidy Brown (Bill), Sara Linn Hough and Laura Sergen (Joey); and five great-grandchildren, Kaya Caudill, Mia Caudill, Bailey Jane Caudill, Julia Brown and Hailey Jade Sergen.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at St. James Church in Brooksville by Father Paul Prabel.
Friends will be received after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
