Kathleen Wellman 1927-2013

CATLETTSBURG — Kathleen Twinam Wellman, 85, of Catlettsburg, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at her home.

Kathleen was born July 15, 1927, in Catlettsburg, a daughter of the late Roy and Lena Lucy Twinam.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, George C. “Curley” Wellman Sr.; two sons, George C. Wellman Jr. and Bobby Wellman; a brother, Billy Twinam; and a sister, Helen Ramsdell.

Kathleen was known to many as “Nanny.” She attended Thomas R. Brown High School and was a retired cook for Craycraft’s Foodland. She was a volunteer at the Catlettsburg Senior Center and a charter member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. She loved cooking and bowling, but most of all she loved being with her family.

Left behind to cherish Kathleen’s memory are her son, Rick Wellman and his wife, Diane, of Ironton, Ohio; a daughter, Billie Caldwell of Catlettsburg; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and special friends Hack and Phyllis Ratliff, Verna McCallister and Clara Oxley.

Funeral services for Kathleen will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg by Pastor Jason Porter. Final rest will be in Fields Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be after noon Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Gospel Light Baptist Church Building Fund, 1115 Trinity Lane, Ashland, KY 41102.
