Paul “Scotty KI4AT” Thompson - 1944-2013

RUSH — Paul “Scotty KI4AT” Thompson, 68, of Rush, passed away Feb. 11, 2013.  

He was born in Johnson City, Tenn., on Aug. 15, 1944, to the late Medley and Norma L. Hillman Thompson.  

He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Lou Williams Thompson, in 2010.  

He attended Unity Baptist Church. He was a ham radio operator and a member of the American Radio Relay League, Civilian Homeland Security, the River Cities Amateur Radio Club, the Democratic Women’s Club, the Democratic Executive Committee, the Amateur Radio Operators & Examiners Institute, the Boyd County Rural Lions Club and Boy Scouts of America. He was retired from the Kentucky State Police as a civilian radio repair technician.  

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Sue Thompson Salmon of Owensboro, Paula Thompson of Rush and Maria Hughes and husband Jeff of Morehead; grandchildren David Thompson, Chelsey Thompson, Austin Forbess, Taylor Forbess, Belle Gee and Gabe Hughes; a brother, Stephen Andrew Thompson and wife Lacey of Rush; and a sister, Karla Thomas and husband Jim of Barnesville, Ohio.  

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel by Dr. Floyd Paris. Burial will be in Thompson-Wells Cemetery in Rush.  

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
