SEYMOUR, IND. —
Sharon L. Bradford, 63, of Seymour, Ind., passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, in Schneck Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 29, 1948, in John’s Run, Ky., and was a daughter of the late Fred and Lois Eileen Hall Bradford.
She is survived by her sisters, Carla (Ronald) Clester, Sheila (Robert) Carr and Lisa (Roger) Collier, and several nieces and nephews.
She had been employed at the Barge Line in Louisville for many years and retired from Kobelco Metal Powder of America after 15 years of service, where she was director of Human Resources. When Kobelco announced its closing, she worked tirelessly to find jobs for those being laid off.
She was a member of the Greater Seymour Chamber of Commerce board for six years, having the office of vice chair and serving on the Education Committee. As a member of the chamber board she was not timid about expressing her ideas, which were always progressive, or backing them up with her willingness to be a worker bee to see them implemented. She single-handly organized the first breakfast for students on the morning of their SATs and brought workers from Kobelco to help with the event. She served both the chamber and the community well. She was also a member of the Jackson County Human Resource Committee, where she was co-chairman. She was the Bridges out of Poverty coordinator through Jackson County Learning, a tutor and was on the Anchor House Board for nine years, having the offices of president and secretary.
People oriented and careing, Sharon will be greatly missed by all who knew her and whose lives she touched.
Inurnment took place at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Memorials may be written to Anchor House, 250 Vine Street, P.O. Box 765, Seymour, Ind. 47274.
