Ford Welton Fielding 1918-2012

CARTER — Mr. Ford Welton Fielding, 94, of Olive Hill, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 4, 2012, in St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

He was born Aug. 17, 1918, in Carter County, a son of the late Owen and Effie Tackett Fielding.

Ford was of the Christian faith and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated from Morehead State University with a masters in art education and retired from the Cincinnati school system, where he taught art. Ford was an avid reader and loved poetry, paintings, mobiles and kites. He was a strong Democrat and enjoyed following political events.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Roger Fielding and Owen Patrick Fielding; and two sisters, Myra Sue Henderson and Wanda Barker.

Ford is survived by two sisters, Clara Alice Fielding of Olive Hill and Patricia Delores “Dodie” Fielding Lankford of Ironton; a host of nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill by Brother Andrew Pitts. Burial will be in Olive Hill Memorial Park, with full military honors by Olive Hill American Legion Post 138.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the funeral home.

Jack Lowe, Matt Lowe, Patrick Fielding, Arthur Rogers, Brent Henderson and Roger M. Patton will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to Olive Hill United Methodist Church.
