LEXINGTON — University of Kentucky President Lee Todd is turning down his performance bonus this year.
Todd was eligible this year to receive $168,000 as a bonus for his performance score of 96 out of 100. The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that without the bonus, Todd will be paid a base salary of $304,010, plus $50,000 for chairing the UK Athletic Association and UK Research Foundation.
A few months ago, UK trustees approved a $2.4 billion budget that eliminates 81 positions and includes a pay freeze for faculty and staff.
Todd received a $95,000 bonus last year. He could have received $50,000 more but chose not to accept it in recognition of last year's tight budget and salary freezes for faculty and staff.
U of L President James Ramsey in July turned down a bonus of more than $100,000 for the second straight year.
