BANANA TREE STUDIOS

The studio offers class instructions in ceramics, watercolors and oils.

All classes are open to beginners as well as advanced students. Classes are for eight weeks, meeting once a week for 21/2 hours. There must be five students registered for the class. Cost is $110.

Gallery hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment at 121 E. Electric Ave., Flemingsburg.

L STYLE

Potters’ Loft

Registration has begun for an eight-week wheel thrown pottery classes with instructor Bill Meadows beginning either Monday May 11 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. or Tuesday, May 12 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Classes will be in the Potters’ Loft at the L Style Salon, 1514 Winchester Avenue. Each student will work on their own wheel. All skill levels from beginners to advance are welcome.

The Potters’ loft will be open First Friday for additional information on classes and for the public to view students work and for students to work on their wheel.

PAINTED COW GALLERY

Studio home for the Lawrence County Arts Council in downtown Louisa, 103 S. Main Cross St. (across the street from the Lawrence County Court House). (606) 638-1313.

The gallery is an official donation site for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Walk for Louisa. Three local artists have donated artwork to benefit the relay. Virginia Dees donated a queen size quilt in shades of pink for breast cancer awareness; Maureen Dosier donated an abstract acrylic painting, “For the Love of Art,” with its primary colors of pinks; and Sandy Stark donated a full size “Split Rail Fence” pattern quilt, which is in shades of purple for cancer survivors. The first two donations are on display at the gallery and the third is on display at the Lawrence County Extension Office. All bids will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

The gallery offers a wide variety of artwork including drawings, paintings, pastels, sculptures, quilts, hand made jewelry, instruments, art dolls and handpainted decorative furniture, and much more.

Every Tuesday is Artist’s Day, bring your own supplies (except oils and clay) and spend the day creating with other artists for a small fee.

Everyone’s welcome to make a quick trip to Louisa and enjoy the new artwork in the gallery.
