BANANA TREE STUDIOS

Classes

Through Friday — Ceramics.

July 24 through July 28 — Watercolor by E.B. Lewis.

The studio offers class instruction in ceramics, watercolors and oils.

All classes are open to beginners as well as advanced students. Classes are for eight weeks, meeting once a week for 21/2 hours. There must be five students registered for the class. Cost is $110.

Gallery hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment at 121 E. Electric Ave. in Flemingsburg.

JESSE STUART FOUNDATION

Now open, Mildred’s Gift Shop located in the back of the Jesse Stuart Foundation Book Store. The shop features Kentucky souvenirs, T-shirts and Kentucky post cards. Also on sale are antique linens, glassware and memorabilia, framed art prints, CDs and audio tapes. For great Kentucky and Appalachian books, visit the JSF Bookstore and check out the unique gift items in the gift store which is named for JSF board member, Mildred Enyart.

The bookstore includes books by Jesse Stuart, Billy C. Clark, Harry Caudill, Thomas D. Clark, Allan W. Eckert and hundreds of other Kentucky and Appalachian authors. Visitors can also enjoy the used book store, photographic exhibit and art gallery.

KENTUCKY FOLK ART CENTER

Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for senior citizens and members of touring groups. KFAC members, children younger than 12, and MSU students are admitted free.

Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Directions are from I-64, take exit 137. Turn south on to Hwy. 32. Follow the brown KFAC signs to the U.S. 60 bypass. The center is on the campus of Morehead State University.



L STYLE

Potters’ Loft

Wheel-thrown pottery classes beginning March 22 or March 23 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. with instructor Bill Meadows. All students will work on their own wheel. All skill levels from beginners to advance are welcome in either class. Registration required.

Classes are at the Potters Loft at the L Style Salon at 1514 Winchester Ave., Ashland.

PAINTED COW GALLERY

Studio home for the Lawrence County Arts Council in downtown Louisa, 103 S. Main Cross St., Louisa (across the street from the Lawrence County Court House.)

Gallery hours for Tuesday through Friday are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Visit the Web site at paintedcowgallery.com.

Each Tuesday the gallery turns into a studio home for an assortment of artists to work on their artwork. Watercolor instructions are also offered each Tuesday. For prices, call Maureen. The gallery offers a wide variety of artwork.

The Gallery and the Lawrence County Arts Council are accepting monetary donations for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life walk in Louisa. Each donation will buy a personalized paper heart ornament for the pink Tree of Life and will be displayed at the gallery until the Relay for Life Walk on June 26.

The Gallery and the Lawrence County Arts Council are also co-sponsoring with the Lawrence County Humane Society’s third annual “Walk for the Animals” poster art contest. All artwork must be submitted on or before Saturday, April 10 for more information, call the gallery during business hours. The winners will be announced on the day of the event.



THE PENDLETON

ART CENTER

The Pendleton Art Center houses the working and retail sale studios of artists and craftsmen with a wide range of talents from the Tri-State. Some studios are open daily; some are open by appointment with the artist. Contact information for the artists is available in the lobby.

Second Look Saturday hours have been changed from 2 to 5 p.m. to 6 to 9 p.m.

In April, Joy Adkins, a representative of KODA will be providing an informative display on organ and tissue donation. KODA is a federally designated organ procurement organization that provides the option of organ and tissue donation to families who have lost a loved one. There will be an opportunity to join the Kentucky Organ Donor Registry, see the Donor Family Memorial Quilt and learn about Kentucky’s new “Donate Life” license plate.
