BANANA TREE STUDIOS

The studio offers class instruction in ceramics, watercolors and oils.

All classes are open to beginners as well as advanced students. Classes are for eight weeks, meeting once a week for 21/2 hours. There must be five students registered for the class. Cost is $110.

Gallery hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment at 121 E. Electric Avenue in Flemingsburg.

DOODLES STUDIO & GALLERY

‰Paper Mosaic class. $65 including 6X6” canvas or mirror frame, craft knife, decoupage medium and dimensional paint as well as six to eight class hours of instruction to be done in one day.

‰Traditional Mosaic class. $110 including mirror frame, tile nippers, safety glasses, adhesive and six class hours of instruction.

The gallery is located at 101 East Water Street in Flemingsburg. Hours: Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed from 1 to 2 p.m. for lunch.

Potters’ Loft

PAINTED COW GALLERY

The annual Halloween/Harvest Art and Ghost Story Contest is under way. This multi-media contest is open to all ages. Juveniles will be judged by their age group and adults will be judged in art categories. Winners will be treated to a special reading of ghost stories, a ribbon ceremony and treats. The submission deadline is Saturday.

The gallery and Lawrence County Arts Council will sponsor art classes for students each Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the gallery. Beginning watercolor classes for adults are offered at noon on the first Saturday of each month for $26 per session, including supplies. For reservations call Maureen at (606) 638-1313.

Every Tuesday is Artist’s Day. Bring your own supplies (except oils and clay) and spend the day creating with other artists for a small fee.

The gallery offers a wide variety of artwork including drawings, paintings, pastels, sculptures, quilts, hand-made jewelry, instruments, art dolls, hand-painted decorative furniture and much more.

ART CENTER

The Pendleton Art Center houses the working and retail sale studios of artists and craftsmen with a wide range of talents from the Tri-State area. Some studios are open daily, some are open by appointment with the artist. Contact information for the artists is available in the lobby.

THE SPEED ART MUSEUM

On Oct. 10 from 12 to 3 p.m. there will be a family program, “Art Sparks Family Studio: Impressionist Color Experiment,” where artist Bart Galloway will introduce you to the works of Vincent Van Gogh and his artistic techniques.

Admission to the museum is free with $5 admission to Art Sparks.

THE UPSTAIRS GALLERY

Lillianne and Bruce Bowersock, “Dynamite Duo,” of Ona, W.Va., are the Featured Artists of October. This husband-and-wife team are members of the Tamarack of West Virginia and Dickirson Fine Art.

The Upstairs Gallery consists of an array of paintings, photography, pottery, stained glass, wood furniture and products, prints, greeting cards, etc.

Four new artists to TUG — Dustin York, Jeff P. Williams, J. Bird Cremeans and Sarah Brinegar.

TRI-STATE ARTS

ASSOCIATION

Oct. 10, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Oct. 11,12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Ritter Park — Artists will exhibit and sell their work. Visitors will be able to chat with the artists and have pieces commissioned.

Artwork will include oil, acrylic, pastels and watercolor paintings, photography and other media.

Face painting and childrens’ art instructions will be available. The All 4 One LLC, Mobile Recording Studio and inflatables also will be at the park. There is a small fee for the childrens’ activities. The Greater Huntington Park and Recreation Concession Booth will be available.
