BANANA TREE STUDIOS

Classes

Through March 9 — Drawing.

Through March 11 — Watercolors.

Through March 19 — Ceramics.

The studio offers class instruction in ceramics, watercolors and oils.

All classes are open to beginners as well as advanced students. Classes are for eight weeks, meeting once a week for 21/2 hours. There must be five students registered for the class. Cost is $110.

Gallery hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment at 121 E. Electric Ave. in Flemingsburg.

JESSE STUART FOUNDATION

The bookstore includes books by Jesse Stuart, Billy C. Clark, Harry Caudill, Thomas D. Clark, Allan W. Eckert and hundreds of other Kentucky and Appalachian authors. Visitors can also enjoy the used book store, photographic exhibit and art gallery.

KENTUCKY FOLK ART CENTER

Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for senior citizens and members of touring groups. KFAC members, children younger than 12, and MSU students are admitted free.

Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Directions are from I-64, take exit 137. Turn south on to Hwy. 32. Follow the brown KFAC signs to the U.S. 60 bypass. The center is on the campus of Morehead State University.



L STYLE

Potters’ Loft

Wheel-thrown pottery classes with instructor Bill Meadows will be Monday and Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. There is student space available in either class. Students work on their own wheel. All skill levels from beginners to advance are welcome. Registration is required.

Classes are at the Potters Loft at the L Style Salon at 1514 Winchester Ave., Ashland.

PAINTED COW GALLERY

Studio home for the Lawrence County Arts Council in downtown Louisa, 103 S. Main Cross St., Louisa (across the street from the Lawrence County Court House.)

Gallery hours for Tuesday through Friday are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday hours are from noon to 4 p.m.

Each Tuesday the gallery turns into a studio home for an assortment of artists to work on their artwork. Watercolor instructions are also offered each Tuesday. For prices, call Maureen.

The gallery is a accepting monetary donations for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life Walk in Louisa. Each donation will buy a personalized paper heart ornament for the pink Tree of Life and will be displayed at the gallery until the Relay for Life on June 26.

The gallery congratulates artists Greg Painter and Harley Fannin, who both won awards at the Greenbo Art Show last weekend. The gallery also welcomes Steven Thaman, a talented artists and newest member of the gallery.

Every Tuesday is Artist’s day. Bring your own supplies (except oils and clay) and spend the day creating with other artists for a small fee.

THE PENDLETON

ART CENTER

The Pendleton Art Center houses the working and retail sale studios of artists and craftsmen with a wide range of talents from the Tri-State. The studios are open on the First Friday of the month from 5 to 9 p.m. for the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Ashland and from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday for Second Look Saturday. Some studios are open daily; some are open by appointment with the artist. Contact information for the artists is available in the lobby.

February’s Artist of the Month is Kathy Keelin, culinary artist from The Olive Tree.
