Sarah Elizabeth Simmerman and Joshua Adam Heck were married May 16, 2009, at South Ashland United Methodist Church. The Rev. Lance Campbell performed a double-ring ceremony. Music was provided by Becky Gehringer, pianist, and Kathleen Chamis, violinist.
Parents of the couple are Steve and Toby Simmerman and Shawn and Sheila Heck, all of Ashland. Sarah is granddaughter of the late Sam and Ann McCormick of Winfield, W.Va., and Dorothy Simmerman of Ashland, and the late J. Willis Simmerman. Adam is the grandson of Skip and Louise Lane and Frank and Carole Heck, all of Kenova.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
They both are graduates of the University of Kentucky and Paul G. Blazer High School, the bride with honors.
She is a financial analyst in strategic planning and decision support for the University of Kentucky Healthcare in Lexington.
The groom is pursuing a doctorate of dental medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry full-time.
The maid of honor was Hannah Simmerman of Ashland, sister of the bride, and the matron of honor was Jana Haberek Bray of Lexington.
Bridesmaids were Mary and Anne Heck of Ashland, sisters of the groom.
Flower girls were Emily Taylor of Charleston, cousin of the bride, and Carlyn Sharp of Lexington.
Ushers were Tyler and Caleb Heck of Huntington, cousins of the groom.
The guest book attendant was Ashlee Hay of Kenova, cousin of the groom.
Program attendants were Karen and Ella Thompson of Lexington.
A reception immediately followed the ceremony at the church, with Martha Rice assisting.
Following a July 4 honeymoon, the couple reside in Lexington.
