Rebecca Carrie Hopkins and Paul Garvin Clements were united in marriage on Aug. 6, 2008, at Knock Presbyterian Church in Belfast, Northern Ireland, by the Very Rev. Alastair Dunlop.
Parents of the couple are Joel and Karen Hopkins of Catlettsburg and Dr. John and Orleen Clements of Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Matron of Honour was Jessica Yates of Louisville, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Laura Pinkston, also of Louisville, and Holly “Bush” of Belfast. Honoured guest was Katie Crowther, also of Belfast.
Best man was John Ferris of Belfast. Groomsmen were Aaron Clements of Lisburn, brother of the groom, and Stephen Caughey and Ryan Robinson, both of Belfast.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Mrs. Yates, pianist, and Miss Pinkston, soloist, and also by Darren Baird, pianist, and Tom Hughes, cellist, both of Belfast.
The bride is a graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School and attended Centre College and Kentucky Christian University. She has earned the Higher National Diploma in music performance from South Eastern Regional College in Bangor, Northern Ireland, and is completing the bachelor of music honours degree in composition and vocal performance at Queen’s University Belfast. She is employed at the Ulster School of Music in Belfast.
The groom completed his A Levels at Wallace High School in Lisburn. He has a foundation degree in multimedia from the University of Ulster and the national diploma in music practice and higher national diploma in music performance from South Eastern Regional College in Bangor. He is completing additional studies in music theory in preparation for a teaching position in Lisburn.
Following a wedding trip to Cyprus, the couple reside in Lisburn.
Rebecca and Paul will be present at a reception in their honor on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at the Paramount Arts Center Reception Hall in Ashland from noon to 3 p.m. Friends and family are invited and encouraged to share in celebrating the couple’s recent marriage.
