Elliott-Kuyper

Martha Alexandra Elliott and Mark Alan Kuyper were united in marriage on June 20, 2009, at Central Christian Church in Lexington by the Rev. Lynne Huff, aunt of the bride, and The Rev. Ray Holdren.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Duvall Elliott of Pikeville, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Huff of Corbin, Ms. Minnie Sue Elliott, the late Mr. William Elliott Jr. and Mrs. Lillian Pearl Elliott, all of Pikeville.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Dean Kuyper of Ashland and the grandson of the late Ms. Christine Rice and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kuyper.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Mrs. Emily Zurkuhlen Hunt, matron of honor, Miss Margaret Whitt, maid of honor, Miss Laura Kuyper, sister of the groom, Mrs. Natasha Coleman Baird, Mrs. Lauren Swartzbaugh Beaven, Mrs. Kimberly Lambert Bisig, Miss Stephanie Carlisle, Miss Natalie Damron, Miss Rebecca Hobbs, Miss Haley Huff and Miss Meredith Huff, both cousins of the bride, and Mrs. Meagan Bernitt Willhite. Miss Katherine Copeland and Miss Ellie Copeland, cousins of the bride, served as junior bridesmaids.

Mr. Bradley Snider was the best man with Mr. Clay Elliott, brother the bride, Mr. Chris Baldridge, Mr. Eric Byrd, Mr. Jesse Harris, Mr. Kelly Horseman, Mr. Greg Mason, Mr. Jeff Willhite, Mr. Bill Williams, Mr. Joel Wiseman, Mr. Chad Zumwalt and Mr. Nick Zumwalt serving as groomsmen.

The flower girls were Miss Avery Bisig, goddaughter of the groom, and Miss Mary Grace Elliott, cousin of the bride with Mr. Grant Bisig and Mr. Evan Copeland, cousin of the bride, serving as the ring bearers.

The duties of usher were performed by Mr. Nick Huff and Mr. Mike Huff, cousins of the bride, Mr. Kenneth Case, Mr. Wesley Hunt, Mr. John Rogers and Mr. Eric Rose.

Serving the couple as program attendants were Miss Hannah Clark and Miss Preslee Farmer, cousins of the bride, and Miss Ciara Grubbs, Miss Jessica Grubbs, Miss Rebekah Grubbs and Miss Morgan Grubbs, all cousins of the groom. The lady in waiting, Miss Claire Fish, was assisted by Miss Virginia Whitt, who served as gift attendant.

The Rev. Bob Farmer, cousin of the bride, performed the Scripture reading at the ceremony. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Marriott Griffin Gate Grand Ballroom.

The parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner on Friday evening at Keeneland’s Lexington Room. Weekend events included a bridal luncheon on Friday given by the bride’s aunts, Mrs. Lynne Huff and Mrs. Shari Huff. The bride’s father hosted a golfing event on Friday. The weekend concluded with a brunch on Sunday given by the bride’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Huff.

The bride is a graduate of Pikeville High School and Georgetown College. She is pursuing her master’s degree in elementary education.

The groom is a graduate of Boyd County High School and Georgetown College and is employed by Kentucky as a Social Security disability adjudicator.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Kuyper will reside in Lexington.
