Dawn Elaine Phelps became the wife of Raymond Scott Brown in a beautiful evening ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at the Poplar Street Church of God in Kenova, W.Va.
She is the daughter of Bud Danny Wellman of Catlettsburg and Glenna June Schaffner of Louisa. She has a daughter, Brittany Danielle Wellman of Kenova, and one granddaughter, Madilyn Booth of Kenova. She is a registered nurse at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
He is the son of the late James R. Brown and Ethel L. Brown of Flatwoods. He is a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant and is the director of the Greenup County E911. He has two children, Asia Renee Bends and her fiancé, Chris Ross of Russell, and Andrew Scott Brown and his wife, Heather, of Ashland. He has three grandchildren, Eli, Brook and Brady, all of Russell.
The bride wore an ivory gown and carried ivory and blush pink roses. Her attendants, Brittany Wellman and Asia Bends, wore black tea-length dresses with black chiffon scarves and carried ivory roses.
The flower girls, Brooklyn Jayne Bends and Madilyn June Booth, wore champagne lace dresses and dropped pale pink rose petals from sterling silver baskets.
Best man was Mike Brown of Flatwoods. Groomsman was Chris Ross.
The ring bearers were Brady Ross and Eli Bends.
Classical harp music was provided by Karen Brown during the candlelit ceremony and the nuptials were officiated by the Rev. Danny L. Goins.
The couple honeymooned in a romantic cabin in Gatlinburg, Tenn., then returned home to Kentucky for a dinner and dance reception on Friday evening. Food was provided by Bellefonte Country Club executive chef Chris Ross, recently returning from Paris, France.
The couple are residing in Grayson.
