Police arrest student over threats

LLOYD — State police have arrested a 17-year-old Greenup County High School student following two phoned-in threats to the school.

The student, whose name was not released because he is under 18, has  been charged with first- and second-degree terroristic threatening and two counts of wanton endangerment, according to a statement from the Ashland post of the Kentucky State Police.

Police took the student to the Boyd County Juvenile Detention Center.

The student is accused of texting a bomb threat to the school Monday and a threat of an imminent shooting on Tuesday.

Investigators found that the person making the threats had tried to conceal his identity by using a cell phone app designed to change his number with each text, according to state police.
