Pedestrians hit by van on interstate

GRAYSON — Three pedestrians were injured when they were hit by a car on I-64 near Grayson Friday afternoon, according to the Ashland post of the Kentucky State Police.

Police were withholding the names of the three victims until families were notified but said they were taken by ambulance and helicopter to Cabell Huntington Hospital with multiple injuries.

Their conditions were not immediately available Friday evening.

The incident happened about 4:30 p.m.

The preliminary investigation showed three people in a pickup pulling a rental trailer had pulled onto the shoulder and gotten out of the truck.

Another driver in an eastbound van hit the three while they were standing by the truck.

Police don’t know yet whether the pedestrians were on the road or the shoulder when they were hit.
