Explosive device found in Greenup

North Carolina man arrested

RACELAND — Police on Sunday night arrested a North Carolina man after finding an explosive device in his vehicle following a traffic stop.

A Raceland police officer found the device after stopping a car being driven Tommy Lee Gumbert of McLeansville on U.S. 23.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Kentucky State Police bomb squad were called to the scene. The device was disarmed, police said.

Gumbert was lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center.
